Peer Review Policy

1. Type of review

All research articles published by the Revista de Análisis Económico – Economic Analysis Review (RAE-EAR) undergo double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. This is why a submission consists of two files and the manuscript must contain no information identifying its authors, as set out in the author guidelines.

2. Initial formal check

The editorial team first checks that the submission complies with the guidelines. If it does not, it is returned to the authors for correction; such a return is not a rejection and the work may be resubmitted.

3. Editorial decision before review

The editor may reject a manuscript without sending it for review if it does not meet the journal’s quality standards or does not fall within its aims and scope.

4. Selection of reviewers

Manuscripts that proceed are sent to reviewers selected by the editor according to their expertise. Each article is assessed by at least two reviewers who are independent of the authors. Independence is absent where the reviewer belongs to the same institution as an author, has recently co-authored with them, took part in the work under review, or has a relationship with the authors that would compromise their judgement. Reviewers must disclose any such circumstance to the editor and, where it exists, decline the review.

5. What is expected of reviewers

Reviewers are asked for a reasoned judgement on the originality, methodology and contribution of the work, with comments that allow the authors to improve it. Any use of artificial intelligence tools during the review must be disclosed to the editor in the confidential comments and limited to tools that guarantee that the manuscript will not be used to train models, in accordance with the Responsible AI Use Policy. The judgement on the work rests with the reviewer and is not delegated to any tool.

6. Decision

On the basis of the reports, the editor decides to accept the article, request minor or major revisions, or reject it. Substantive decisions are always made by people. The revised version is generally returned to the same reviewers. Rejection decisions, with or without review, are final.

7. Confidentiality

The entire editorial process is confidential. Submitted manuscripts are neither shared nor used for any purpose other than their assessment, and reviewer reports are treated as confidential documents.

8. Integrity

If an integrity concern arises during review or after publication, the Correction, Retraction, and Post-Publication Amendment Policy applies.
